The eighteenth edition of the Sant’Anna School Prospective Students Summer Program has opened this morning; it is the second event jointly organized with the federated IUSS Institute for Advanced Studies of Pavia. For the 2016 edition, two didactic modules are planned and, for the first time, the event is hosted in Pisa, at the historic headquarters of Sant’Anna School for Advanced Studies. On Monday, June 27th, 190 students from all over Italy now attending their penultimate year of high school, are offered a first point of contact with university colleges. They will attend two didactic module - the first between June 27 and July 1, and the second between 4 and 8 July.

This 2016 edition, most up to date with social media, aims to be a more effective program for recruiting students. Sant’Anna School Facebook fan page, Twitter profile with #orientatilamente, and YouTube, could be used to interact with professors and participants, following events in real time and, most importantly, viewing recorded lectures, talk show interviews, debates, and press conferences. Our strategically developed website - ScuolaEstiva.it, designed in cooperation with Devitalia Telecomunicazioni, provides video live streaming of lectures and access to recorded lectures, supporting on demand full service. GranducatoTv network will broadcast the debates and meetings live (digital channel 14 in Tuscany), Twitter #orientatilamente will be used for audience interaction.

High school students participating in the summer program have been selected from a pool of 1000 candidates on the basis of final results and personal profile assessment. Compliance with the above parameters can guarantee a balanced representation of all Italian high schools, talents and interests for university studies and future goals. This eighteenth edition of the summer program, totally free of charge, offers two residential programs. Attending a double, full immersion summer program, the students have a first approach to the university learning environment, in view of the best possible learning path and their participation in the highly selective competition for admission, a year from now.

The ability to imagine is the "fil rouge" of the two didactic modules and merges with the path to understanding the deeper and stronger motivations for the choice of university courses. This "journey into the future" of their education and their aspirations is made possible by lectures, debates, round tables, and also through informal meetings with the students of Sant'Anna School for Advanced Studies. Their presence provides opportunities to deepen the aspects of university life, to satisfy one’s curiosity about our university sharing experiences and strategies for students success.

The following topics will be discussed by professors and researchers of the two top universities: genetic resources and climate change; biotechnology; nature of the mind, brain, and heart; frontiers of technologies such as robotics and nanotechnology applications in healthcare and for a sustainable future. Keynote and panel speakers include professors and researchers of Scuola Normale Superiore.

The Prospective Students Summer Program represents an opportunity to meet Sant'Anna School for Advanced Studies, thanks to the "Clear and Transparent Information Point". Friday, July 1 and Monday, July 4 the information point devoted to “crystal-clear information” will offer a dedicated internet access to all students interested in Sant’Anna “Amministrazione trasparente” intranet webpage, gathering information on Sant’Anna School activities and consulting fraud and corruption prevention policy.
